Writer and Aspiring Author

Couldn't you find a smaller needle? — Mike Handy

The Waiting Game

I’m learning a lot about myself as I work to become a published author. My latest personal revelation is that I am horribly impatient. I’ve decided to keep about five active queries for my manuscript floating in the query-verse. I think that simultaneous submissions are the best way for me to go, because it will greatly improve my chances of landing an interested agent sometime this decade. Like I said I’m impatient.

I don’t believe I’m so impatient that I’m rude or pushy. But I’m definitely the product of a society, which fosters the notion of instant gratification. Everything happens fast: fast cars, fast food, high-speed internet, same-day delivery. I guess, I’m just eager to share my manuscript, because I’m certain most people will really enjoy it. Of course, I imagine that’s what most would-be authors think of their own work-product.

Anyway, to distract me from my horrible impatience, I’ve started writing the next book. I’m about halfway done with the fist chapter, which is taking place about a month after Dodging Demons leaves off.
